Fundraising through music for The Lavender Touch charity.

One Musical Director,  TWO songs, 50 singers, 50 individual recordings, several ‘zoom’ rehearsals and many technical challenges .

In normal times, we would have already chosen our next show but unfortunately, given the current times, this has not been possible. Lockdown leaves us unsure of when we will be able to get back to entertaining the public in the way that we love.

Despite this and keep the society singing, Jeff Thomson, our Producer/Musical Director decided to look for a 'project' the whole society could get involved in. The Gala Opera Virtual Choir of 2020 was born.

The Lavender Touch provides complimentary therapies for people living with cancer in the Scottish Borders and Gala Opera has had a close relationship with The Lavender Touch (SC034713) over many years, including fundraising on several projects in that time. That's why it was decided that the virtual choir would not only be a fun project for the society to be involved in, but it would raise money at the same time.

Around 50 Gala Opera members (past and present) took up the challenge and after a huge amount of work by all involved, the project is now complete.  Listen to,  not one, but,  two songs from the GAOS Virtual Choir of 2020.

We hope you enjoy the finished article, that it brings a smile to your face in these uncertain times and that you can see your way to donate to the Lavender Touch who have been instrumental in its production and who will benefit from any money raised by this project, helping ensure that the service they provide can continue at this difficult time.

Thank you and enjoy - and please, if you can, donate at https://www.lavendertouch.co.uk/project/virtual-choir/
